The Perfect Prescription is a remarkable departure from Spacemen 3's debut, Sound of Confusion. Reduced to a trio (Sonic Boom, Jason "Spaceman" Pierce, and bassist, Pete Bassman) following the departure of the first album's drummer, Spacemen 3 makes an asset out of the newfound lack of percussion, giving The Perfect Prescription a considerably less rock-oriented sound with much more open space in it's varied, subtle arrangements. The comedown drone of 'Feel So Good' is balanced by the gospel-infused spiritual lift up of "Walking With Jesus." Driving riffs, Velvets stylisations, and reverb-soaked bliss. This is the blueprint for all the space rock that followed.
